Jon is a Level 4 qualified Personal Trainer having worked in the fitness industry since 2012. From then he has further expanded his experience and qualifications to be able to provide a better, more rounded, service to his clients.

A very active member of the Creation team, in addition to his Personal Training clients, Jon also runs two group Circuit Training sessions each week on Wednesday and Thursday evenings and also two group running sessions on Monday and Thursday. He is also one of the lead coaches within our triathlon club, Total Transition Triathlon Club, and regularly coaches both swimming and cycling sessions.

A very supportive & encouraging trainer, Jon looks passed the physical side of training and helps instil a sense of belief in clients about their abilities and actively encourages them to explore new challenges and test their limits.

Jon puts a big emphasis on getting the foundations right ensuring all clients are strong and stable with a robust core before progressing to incorporate strength development work and bigger weight training. He has a keen eye for technique and correct form to ensure his clients get the most from the prescribed exercises and progress their fitness safely.

Working closely with local professional therapists (chiropractors, physiotherapists and sports masseurs) Jon is heavily involved with rehabilitation clients helping them to overcome injury or doing pre-habilitation work, resolving muscle imbalances or weaknesses relevant to their chosen sport or activity to avoid injury. His Level 4 qualification in managing lower back pain supports this well and adds another dimension to what can be offered to his clients.

A large proportion of his clients are active and are involved in sport in some capacity from casual participant to experienced athletes representing Great Britain at age group level. Given this, his sessions tend to have a bias towards sporting activity covering mobility, power and endurance.

Jon has been a runner from a young age competing at National level at school age before progressing to mountain biking, Ultimate Frisbee, Adventure Racing and road cycling before transitioning to triathlon. Jon is now an active triathlete/duathlete competing regularly, typically at 70.3 Middle Distance (half ironman) triathlon events. He has represented Great Britain as part of the GB Age Group Team at both World and European level on several occasions and has competed across all distances from Sprint triathlons up to full Ironman.

Client Testimonials

“After suffering from a severe eating disorder I had lost almost a third of my body weight. During my road to recovery I came to Jon for guidance as to how to commence training in a safe way. He has seen me improve from barely being able to lift 2kg dumbbells or cope with a twenty minute session to doing multiple press ups, pull ups and powering through one of his Crossfit style circuit sessions still coming out with a smile on my face and energy to push through his secret surprise final sets!! Jon will be more than just your PT. He will be one of your best mates, supporter and number one fan. He has made me believe in myself and achieve more than I ever thought would be possible. In all aspects of my life. 110% recommend him to anyone in any part of their fitness journey.”

“I have been training with Jon for the last 3 years. He runs structured, engaging training sessions with plenty of variety to work on different things. He always makes me work hard but does so with a smile and plenty of encouragement. As well as physical improvement I can honestly say that psychologically I have hugely benefited from my regular coaching sessions. They have made me feel ‘brave’ and have more self-confidence. I have had the courage to challenge myself to new things including a couple of sprint triathlons, a 50 mile bike ride and a sailing dinghy Instructor qualification. I would not have attempted any of these without the strength and fitness training given by Jon. He has encouraged me to push my boundaries and achieve things I didn’t think I could do.”

Bernie

“Back in 2015, Jon welcomed me to my first Monday Running Development session. We did hill reps with kettlebell swings as “recovery”! I didn’t know what had hit me, but I loved it and came back for more. Since then, thanks to Jon’s running groups, his personal and group training sessions at Creation PT, and his individual coaching plan, I’ve achieved things I would never have thought possible. He’s given me bucket loads of encouragement & support through lots of hard training, he’s steadied my wobbles, and got me through injuries. Jon has the perfect mix of professionalism and expertise along with a healthy sense of fun, and training is always a mix of effort, achievement and laughter. He leads by example, training hard and competing in events alongside the athletes he coaches and is always there to support us all and encourage us to do more and extend our horizons, The list of things I said I would never do - marathons, cycling, open water swimming, triathlons - has dissolved, thanks to Jon, and I’ve loved being able to share my successes, greater and smaller, with him. I’m excited to see what I can achieve over the next few years!”,

“I can’t thank Jon enough for his help with my training. I came to Creation when I had entered a middle distance triathlon to get myself back to fitness and realised I didn’t know what I was doing. Not only did he prepare me for this race, but he inspired me to do more and opened my eyes up to the importance of strength and conditioning work and different types of training. I have always been a runner, but always just went for a run at the same pace. Since working on my S & C, joining his running group and introducing different sessions into my weekly training plan my times have really improved. I also started attending the TTTC swim sessions, which have changed me from a ‘swim once before a race’ swimmer to loving it and actually competing in the World and European Age Group aquathlon championships. Not only does Jon know his stuff when it comes to training, but he is really supportive, encouraging and a genuinely nice guy and I would never have competed at age group level without his guidance. Thank you!”,
